Philadelphia is a wonderful experience and great location to spend the 4th of July Independence Day. After all, it was here, in area now called Historic Philadelphia, that the Declaration of Independence was debated, written and signed forming the United States of America.
As you can imagine it was a very tense time for those assembled in what was then called City Hall. We now know it Independence Hall. Gathered here were Thomas Jefferson, Benjamin Franklin, John Adams, and many others of our country’s patriots.
It was a scary meeting because they were making the final decision about breaking away from England. This would be considered treason against the Crown.
As Ben Franklin said to them on that final day in his customary wit… “We must all hang together, or surly we shall all hang separately.”
